With Anastasiaweb's new online service costing anywhere from 39 cents to 50 cents a minute, innocent foreign men honestly looking for a wife are led to the slaughter. Spending $400 a month to correspond with 5 or 6 women is not unusual. This site easily generates $400,000 a month in revenue with their affiliate sites getting a piece of the action. Even if the sites overseas are unaware of individual scammers they still would do little to stop it from occuring since it would negatively affect their pocketbook.
But this is just the beginning. If you are unfortunate enough to visit one of the women overseas the fun just begins from being asked to provide money for taxi fare (average fare about $7 to $10) Some women will falsely say they live outside the city and that it takes at least an hour to travel into the city. These woman will ask for anywhere from $20 to $50 dollars for taxi fare. Multiply that by five to ten days and the woman has made more in those five to ten days on taxi fare than she would have made in two months. Some men show up after spending $3000 for tickets and renting a flat to find out the woman they wish to meet is mysteriously on vacation. A family member being sick is also another famous excuse to not meet the man. Those women that do meet a man may ask the man to buy them an expensive gift at one of the high-end fashion stores present downtown. After all what man wants to look like a cheap bastard in front of his dream woman.
Another way they can get you is through an interpretor. Going rate is usually $15/hour but some unfortunate guys have been taken at $30/hour. Be aware of women that drag the date on as long as possible. The interpretor and women share in the ill gotten profit.
