Jon :
Thanks for adding your story to the list. I am glad things worked out for you. Congratulations. I do know your post will generate many questions from everybody. Sounds very interesting.
*Part 1* of your story is informative and much of it makes sense. While I am not questioning the veracity of your statements, I would simply challenge the perspective of why certain things are done the way they are (and apparently continue to be). It would be speculation on everybody's part, including my own, except for those who are the major players - namely Chnlove and its 'agencies'.
I do have 2 questions of my own, if they are not posted prior :
1. When you say the Translation Costs are either absorbed by the Lady or the Gentlemen (via Chnlove), do you mean the hard costs of Translation, OR an exorbitant amount (40,000 Yuan / 5-7,000$USD) that has often been mentioned elsewhere? If you get a chance to read the stories here, you may know that there hasn't been much discussion here about that specific aspect, but on a number of other internet sites there are some pending cases / lawsuits that have received attention.
2. When you mention that you cherish your Lady even more now, do you mean she is responsible for paying a large amount to the Agency as a result of the match or just the costs of having the Agency translate all your messages? (I'm just not clear.)
*Part 2* of you story : I should clarify that this site *has* had posts of members who *have* gone beyond the first steps such as yourself. We are actually waiting to hear back from the two *most recent*. Some have had more success than others.
Again, where I would disagree with you re. Translators is the perspective taken. You are fortunate that in your case they were helpful in your search. I can not say the same in my colleague's case, my own case, or the cases of many others who have posted here. It may well be that your Translator was upfront, perhaps bonded, and acted in a bona fide manner. I would be amazed if that were the case in the majority. If it were, the posts you will find here and on the internet would not continue to flourish (and most likely will continue to for some time from what I have seen even recently).
Likewise, I would suggest that using the Gump analogy is what gets Chnlove into hotwater, and not a huge fan of their using it at all. Life can be a gamble. The question is : are the odds already stacked in favour of Chnlove and is the field really level? I think not. They do not quote Gump directly, rather, "Since it's going to be your last marriage, you figure, why not shell out the money, it's worth it." Maybe. I'm I toss the dice to win Jason's Fleece, or am I just getting fleeced 90% of the time?
No one is going to accuse you of being a Chnlove "spy" for posting a rational story. They are, however, going to make a big fuss if you are a paid staff member of Chnlove impersonating a client on your own email and trying to drum up a potentially failing business - as, in fact, happened here. (Just scroll down, a bit.) Or, a former staff extolling the virtues of how picture perfect Chnlove is, along with the violins and making sure not to cause the Anonymous Lady At The Other End to "lose face" just for asking reasonable questions. List goes on &
A major concern I have, most recently, is reading on other sites the 'advice' of Chnlove promoters telling the Lady to simply "hide" the fact when / where they get married, and 'abscond' from China and any contract she may have signed with the Agency. They seem to be under a mistaken belief that life will just unfold care-free if they follow this 'wisdom'. Taken as a whole, and having seen the backgrounds of the individuals involved, I can say that there will be many out there who may later regret biting off more than they can chew. And the Lady is most likely going to be left worse off than she first began.
Again, I enjoyed reading your story Jon, and will give the others a chance to follow up. Congratulations on making it through. Myself - I spent about 5X times the amount and of the ladies I corresponded with, 14 EMFs was the farthest the exchanges went, so I would say you did very well all things considered.
Have to beat the highway mess in the early dark, wish me luck ! :D
