On a semi-related note: Harry, I have tossed the *entire* dozen of donuts at you, sir. And take this box, while you are at it. Your head aches because you are not working.) Your 'discussion' on this pristine forum reminds me of a popular joke:
"A suspect calls his attorney late at night, whispering. His attorney, asks his client, 'Why are your whispering?' The client replies, 'Because I think the police bugged my phone and I don't want them to hear what I'm going to tell you."
Without even guessing, I can safely tell you that because of all that has been posted in only the last 48 hours, not just your fabulous 'gifts' we have managed to help The-Other-Groups increase their member two-fold or more. Mark my word.
Yes, this group *is* closely watched, so always keep in mind what you are all posting here. Do you want the group to help others, or create more mis-information that will simply be used by the same Scammers? Or, make it easier for them to avoid detection?
I am as strong advocate of freedom-of-speech. So, a major reason I stopped venturing to certain sites that are moderated is that I no sooner trust some one else's selective editing than Chnlove's. Let me ask, briefly: Why did many of you dislike Chnlove's restrictive forum to begin with? Was it because it focused on things like supposed Chinese "customs" (which may or may not, even have any application in reality despite 'expert' lay advice to the contrary)? Did it go on ad infinitum about trivial matters like how the rain spoiled arrival plans, instead of addressing more serious client concerns like fraud and misrepresentation?
Now, go back to these various, "new" groups and ask yourself what they are discussing? Are they discussing matters of attempted fraud and client concerns about being misled? Or, are they talking about how to fold a napkin and the best places you just have to go see? (I am making this up. I don't seriously know either way.) Isn't that what travel websites are for? Where is the Lady who was supposed to be the focus at the outset?
A major, second reason why I stopped venturing, willy-nilly, is the difficulty I have re-reading these emotional, impact stories of victims. While I will do my best to help others research for themselves, I refuse to be party to the ridiculous and *eventual* charade of "egging" another human being on, only to end up leaving egg on everyone's "face," then simply walking away, and not taking an responsibility. Ooops. (It is always easier to spend *another's* money and not to suffer the same loss yourself. Why don't some of these 'good samaritans' help reimburse the costs of the poor victim?)
So, before one decides to 'help' another take his "big step," be prepared to accept some personal liability, ethically or morally, in the least. Legally speaking, there is probably already enough for victims to launch a class action suit, but I am going to leave that for another day.
