hi all: i am just trying to get the truth! i have heard both sides and i don't know what to believe. eh sites states it found COMPATABLE matches in jax fl (my hometown)and they even lived in the same complex! i have also heard a lot of matches are MILES away. i have also seen matches on eh ads where the girls are just beautiful. on the other hand i have heard just the opposite ie... not attractive, overweight, not well educated etc.... in regards to communication, does it take a long time (and a lot of money) before you can actually meet the other person? i am currently looking on pof and other free sites with not much success. i have attended pof local events as well.... not much success there either. it seems most the women say they are looking for a long term relationship but, when you ask for a 2nd date you never see them again. i don't mind paying for a service as log as it does what it claims. i would really appreciate any help from anyone who has experienced eh both negative and positive so a can make an informed decision. also if there any other sites that have proven successful please let me know. thanks to all.

I decided to actually post my advice, so folks could see it upfront and be warned--I had a very bad experience with this site, and when I wanted to get a refund ($250) and get my profile removed, eHarmony.com gave me the run around with many back-and-forth emails (I also had problems just logging on with Internet Explorer.) Finally I sent them an email telling them I was going to report them to the Consumer Complaints department of my local County District Attorney unless they credited my card with a full refund and sent me a written to confirm that all of my information, including my photo, would be removed. I got an email agreeing to all of my stipulations almost immediately (this was a few years, and I still have it somewhere at my place--I ought to frame it!). If you don't get a response like I did, I would suggest you go ahead and document what happened (including their non-helpful emails) and file it with your District Attorney's Office. Perhaps if there are enough of these complaints, these companies will learn to conduct themselves in a more honorable way and actually provided the services they promise. At least take heart that there are ways to hold them accountable to some degree. Just wanted to offer a bit of light to folks who might feel kind of stuck with an expensive mistake and to help out those of you before you get bogged down in the quagmire that is eHarmony.com and many of these online dating sites. Thanks Pfishy, for giving me a chance to express myself!
