I posted a free profile a week ago just out of curiosity -- have had a few contacts from real guys (i.e. we exchanged phone numbers) but overall I would say it's lame. They keep stupidly censoring things I write in my profile for who-know-what reason. Nothing lewd or outrageous, just comments like "I'm not looking for a sugar daddy or for anyone who needs to be rescued" or explanations of my political background (liberal) or the fact that I am not religious. Also, you can't perform any searches whatsoever -- just zip code??? I'm only interested in guys who share my interests (the outdoors, reading, cultural events, intellectual pursuits) -- I shouldn't be forced to wade through hundreds of profiles of devout Catholic Republican sports fanatics. It's a waste of my time and theirs. Also, I tend to be most compatible with men 5 to 15 years younger since I am very active, athletic and sort of bohemian. Of course, the site only matches me with guys my age and much older. I get 3 or 4 "flirts" a day but I have to say most of them are from guys who could not possibly have read my profile since we have nada in common.
I've maintained a FREE profile on Plenty of Fish for 2 years -- you can post anything you want without censorship (they do delete lewd photos, fortunately) and participate in conversation forums on a range of subjects -- a great way to meet real people. I highly recommend it and it doesn't cost a dime. They let you customize searches and there are no blocks to you contacting anyone except for constraints posted by the posters themselves. I've met several great people through it including one of my current best friends and a guy I happily dated for several months a year ago. Screw those crappy pay-to-play subscription sites. If everyone would switch to Plenty of Fish the bloodsucking commercial sites would die a fitting death.
